Family, friends, and members of the New Church and Accomack County communities are mourning the tragic loss of Tyler Crockett, 25, who died in a devastating two-vehicle crash on Chincoteague Road in Accomack County on Friday, June 5.
According to the Virginia State Police, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 10:17 p.m. Investigators reported that a 2000 Ford Explorer, driven by Tyler Crockett of New Church, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Chincoteague Road when it collided head-on with a 2014 Toyota Camry that was traveling westbound.
The force of the crash was severe. Authorities said the impact caused the Ford Explorer to travel over a jersey wall and into a nearby marsh. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Tyler was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the collision.
The driver of the Toyota Camry suffered minor injuries and survived the crash.
